Tung Oil
Tung oil, also known as ‘China wood oil’ is an environmentally friendly natural wood oil used to seal and protect timber or other materials. The oil is zero VOC’s and one of the first and only available ‘Green’ environmentally friendly material finishes available. Sourced from the nut of Tung tree and the oil originates from the mountainous regions of China. It is completely natural and contains no petroleum distillates or other additives.
Typically uses for Tung oil include for benchtops, cutting boards, bowls, outdoor furniture, decks, wooden flooring or on concrete or brick.
The oil is FDA approved food safe and when applied provides a non-glossy, beautiful matte finish. It is hard drying and cures via oxidation, taking 7 to 10 days for a partial cure and 15-30 days to fully cure.
