Fabulous Fungi is a textile dye derived from fungi. The dye was developed as a solution to one of the major problems in the fashion industry; the use of synthetic textile dyes.
The benefit of Fabulous Fungi is that it eliminates the enormous amounts of harmful chemicals that are currently involved with conventional dyeing, this includes water pollution, health problems and significant amounts of water and energy use.
Fabulous Fungi is a fantastic and innovative circular material as it employs fungi to create a sustainable and safe textile dye. The dye is produced using a biochemical process that enables the fungi to produce colour pigments. These pigments are then extracted from the fungi and are used to dye textiles.
The dye is derived from natural sources and is fully biodegradable. It doesn’t cause water pollution and requires less water and energy to produce.
