SCALITE®
SCALITE® is a marble-like board material made exclusively from waste fish scales.
The material is a fantastic circular product as it is derived from an existing waste stream. The scales used in the production of the material are a waste by-product of the fishing industry.
SCALITE® is created through the use of a natural biopolymer that is contained within the scales. During the manufacturing process, this biopolymer is extracted and mixed with the mineral part of the scales to create the basis of the material.
The material is design as a natural material and is free from any deleterious resin, plastics or artificial glues. It is non-flammable and at end of life, it is also 100% recyclable.
SCALITE is available in sheets and can be dyed to a wide range of colors and transformed with conventional timber tools. The standard size board is 300mm x 300mm x 12mm.
Typical uses for the material include retail interior applications and commercial projects.
