Ottan Studio has developed bio-composite materials from various upcycled food, agricultural and garden wastes. These include:

  • Expired foods (rice, yellow and red lentils, kidney beans)
  • Orange Peels
  • Nutshells (walnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts)
  • Coffee and Carrot Pulp
  • Fallen leaves (i.e. palm leaves)
  • Sawn Grass and corn
  • Malt Husk

Production Process

Extensive R&D enables Ottan Studio to develop an innovative process in which organic waste is remodelled into high-quality, commercially viable products. For example, the RBOL material is produced by burning orange peels and mixing them with expired rice.

Ottan Studio foresees a circular production model with the potential for widespread application in architecture and product design.

The materials can be widely used in a variety of applications, including jewellery, toys, electronics, interior design, furniture, and the automobile sector.
