Ottan
Ottan Studio has developed bio-composite materials from various upcycled food, agricultural and garden wastes. These include:
- Expired foods (rice, yellow and red lentils, kidney beans)
- Orange Peels
- Nutshells (walnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts)
- Coffee and Carrot Pulp
- Fallen leaves (i.e. palm leaves)
- Sawn Grass and corn
- Malt Husk
Production Process
Extensive R&D enables Ottan Studio to develop an innovative process in which organic waste is remodelled into high-quality, commercially viable products. For example, the RBOL material is produced by burning orange peels and mixing them with expired rice.
Ottan Studio foresees a circular production model with the potential for widespread application in architecture and product design.
The materials can be widely used in a variety of applications, including jewellery, toys, electronics, interior design, furniture, and the automobile sector.
