Honext
Honext Board is a natural and recyclable circular material made from cellulosic waste. It is long-lasting, resilient, and sustainable for endless (conscious) possibilities.
It can be cut, drilled and sanded. The tools and fastening systems used for the Honext Board are identical to those used for wood. It is an ecological choice that does not require any other waste material for its production, such as trees or fossil fuels. The board consists of Honext core, which is made of 100% recycled paper, and the Honext surface layer, made of cellulose fibre from sustainably managed forests.
Combining these two layers results in a highly durable material that is also easy to work with.
The Honext Board is available in various thicknesses and sheet sizes. It can be used for a wide range of applications such as furniture, flooring, cladding, facade elements, and much more. It is the perfect material for sustainable living.
Honext is the alternative to conventional boards: particle board, hardboard, fiberboard, oriented strand board (OSB), medium-density fiberboard (MDF), plywood and chipboard.
Production Process
Even though its manufacturing process is quite different from the standard board ones, it does not require any new equipment or technology. The process starts by mixing the cellulosic waste with water and binders. The mixture is then cooked at high temperature and pressure until the lignin has been broken down and the cellulose fibres have started to align themselves in the desired direction—that can be long or short. Finally, it is sanded smooth on both sides and trimmed to size. The whole process takes less than a day from start to finish.

Non-toxic — It does not emit formaldehyde or other volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Moisture Resistant — it is resistant to moisture and water vapour.
Fire Retardant — current reaction to fire is class C-s1,d0. We will reach class B-s1,d0 by 2022
Weight Resistant & Light — greater resistance to bending and lighter than traditional partitioning materials.
Sound Insulation — it has greater sound absorption properties than drywall and MDF.
Thermal Insulation — it provides better thermal insulation than other materials with similar applications.
