Hempwool
HempWool is a thermal insulation material made by Hempitecture. The circular material is made of 90% natural fibre and hence is a safe and non-toxic alternative for sustainable insulation.
The product finds its application in home insulation & is ideal in multiple locations throughout a build, e.g ceiling, floor, walls & partition walls. It is also perfect for insulating vans, RV's, and modular homes.
Contrary to other insulation materials, HempWool is safe to touch & handle without gloves.
Production process
HempWool is produced by utilizing the fibre from industrial hemp. The harvested fibre is processed and transported to a manufacturing facility.
Material properties
HempWool consists of a simple composition and non-toxic additives. It is 90% hemp fibre and 10% binder.
The pressure fit system keeps HempWool in place with no slumping or sagging. HempWool reduces heating and cooling costs: the high thermal inertia of HempWool makes it a phase-shift-resistant material, keeping the home comfortable all year round.
The material shows high performance due to a Thermal Resistance of 3.7/in along with dimensional stability & vapour permeability.
Circular features
HempWool is made using the fibre from industrial hemp, which is grown sustainably in rural communities all across the United States. These seeds grow into a crop that offsets 9.8 tons of CO2 per acre which is the equivalent of taking 2.1 cars off the road for a year. It has carbon-storing properties & is hypoallergenic too.
