Fabula
Fabula is a new circular material made out of food waste. The material is used to create small dishes, tools, furniture, and even building supplies.
The company uses a variety of food waste to create its material. Coffee grounds, tea leaves, rind of citrus, Chinese cabbage and convenience store Bento are included in the production process.
The steps are relatively simple:
- Collect food waste as the raw material.
- Dry, grind and heat-press it.
- Make sure desirable colour, texture, and aroma is achieved by varying the drying and powdering method and the heat-press temperature.
- Voila! What has been considered waste is a new product once again.
Although the properties depend on the raw materials, the end products have demonstrated excellent properties.
For example, the bending strength of a material made from food waste of Chinese Cabbages is four times stronger than concrete. A 5 mm thin plate can bear 30 kg weight. That is enough to consider it a construction material in the future.
The material is 100% natural, recyclable and biodegradable.
