Durat
Durat is a solid surface circular material that is made out of post-industrial plastics and is 100% recyclable.
Production process
Durat utilizes post-industrial plastic waste from manufacturing & waste management units in Sweden & Finland. The recycled plastic is then granulated into small chips & cast into a resin base to create durable, silky sheets of solid surface in Durat's 100% renewable energy manufacturing facility.
The Durat material is processed with woodworking tools & an adhesive is used for glueing the seams.
The material can be fabricated into various finishes like standard satin finish, polished finish, & thermoforming (for curvatures) using specific guidelines provided on the website.
Material properties
Durat is a polyester resin-based solid surface material which contains about 30% recycled material & is 100% recyclable. The recycled post-industrial waste is pulverized into granules giving Durat its distinctive texture.
It can be cast into sheets& different sizes of sinks & bathtubs. The silkiness of the material is achieved by using the highest quality raw materials.
Durat is durable & can be renewed by slight sanding. The material is also resistant to wear, humidity & various kinds of chemicals. It is fabricated using woodworking tools into seamless surfaces by cutting, glueing & sanding.
Durat is a sustainable material that is an excellent choice for surfaces in places like restaurants, cafes, shops, hospitals, laboratories, boats & ships, bathrooms & kitchens.
The standard sheet measures 2900 x 800 x 12 mm. The material is available in more than 200 colours & textures.
Durat gives a guarantee of 15 years for the material & 10 years for fabricated items.
Circular features
Durat is a safe material to use in any environment & tested not to omit any VOCs. It is tested safe for use with foodstuffs, & also fulfils the criteria for M1-classifications of low-emission building products.
