Caracara

  • Additional Information

Caracara Collective creates unique circular materials using a range of regional waste products.

The raw ingredients used include:

  • Leftover vegetable garden stems and leaves
  • Fruit and vegetable peels
  • Eggshells
  • Pine needles
  • Used yerba

With binders made of nature’s starches and resins, the biowaste is transformed into functional materials, design installations and art collections. Visual panels, tiles, tables and lampshades are some of the final products. Lampshades, for example, are made from the most abundant raw materials in the Caracara Collective: orange peels and pine needles.

Caracara also works with mycelium—the root network of mushrooms. Mycelium materials are robust, buoyant and have excellent insulation and fire-resistance properties.

Caracara Collective promotes sustainable design, envisioning a future without harmful materials—a future where waste is a resource. It proves that a harmless coexistence is possible—all we need is a bit of creativity (and dedication).
