BioMason
bioLITH® tiles from BioMason are concrete masonry tiles that are suitable for interior and exterior applications.
The bioMason tile is a unique precast concrete material that is created by employing microorganisms to grow the bio cement. The process involves taking a recycled aggregate, mixing it with the microorganisms, and then pressing into shape and feeding in an aqueous solution until the material hardens.
Traditional cement relies on the burning of calcium carbonate to form the cement. BioMason works in the opposite way to traditional cement using microorganisms to grow and set the cement. The final product is the same as traditional cement and is a precise, strong and durable alternative that doesn’t produce the negative effects of traditional cement production.
Circular Features
Source Material
The material is created with 85 recycled waste aggregate, this can be from waste bioMason bioLITH® tiles or from other waste aggregates.
Afterlife Plan
BioMason can be broken down and remade endlessly, truly enabling circularity. It is also manufactured in a recycled closed-loop water system, with no potable water used in the manufacturing process.
