  • Additional Information

Orange Fiber is an innovative patented textile made from citrus juice by-products.

The brand Orange fibre makes sustainable fabrics that are of high quality and especially desired in the fashion-luxury sector.

Production process

The production technology is based on the extraction of high-quality cellulose from the citrus juice industry leftovers. It represents 60% of the original weight of the processed fruits that should be otherwise disposed of, while this process uses it to feed cellulose fibre production lines.

The citrus juice leftovers from selected groves undergo cellulose extraction from which fibres are made. The fibres are then spun into yarn & weaved into the resultant fabric.

This innovative process has been patented since 2014 in the main citrus juice-producing countries all over the world.

Material properties

The first collection of orange fibre fabrics launched in the market in 2016 included a twill, poplin and a jersey, obtained by weaving the citrus cellulose yarn with silk, cotton & elastane respectively.

In partnership with the Lenzing Group, a leading global producer of wood-based speciality fibres, a new sustainable ingredient for fashion has been created: the first TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibre made of orange and wood pulp. Produced according to the highest quality & sustainability standards, the innovative fibre is at the origin of the new Orange Fiber collection of fabrics, which will be presented on the market next autumn.

The fabrics are refined and sensorial, suited to luxury & premium brands.
