EcoSilico Nano-Silica
Nano-silica (SiO2) is an innovative circular material derived from waste solar panels.
The material is created by EcoSilico which converts the silicon waste from solar panels into a high-value-added material.
Production process
The silicon waste is procured from end-of-life silicon PV panels, manufacturing waste, silicon wafers in microelectronics, etc.
As the conventional method of recycling silicon from solar panels is highly polluting & unsustainable, EcoSilico has developed an advanced technology that treats this waste stream in an eco-friendly manner.
EcoSilico assists recycling companies in processing silicon from PV panels with their unique Zero C technology which has been tested in laboratories & also has a patent pending.
The process includes 5 major steps of procuring silicon sources, manipulating (activating) their surface, utilizing aqua chemistry, & then subjecting them to reagents & controlled temperature with time.
The nano silicon powder which is produced as a result is sold back to the customers where it can be reused for many further applications.
Material properties
The high-quality silica nanoparticles are obtained in a pulverized (powder) form & have a particle mesh size ranging from
20 to 50 nanometers.
The material has many applications & is used in products like toothbrushes, creams, rubber, paints, polishing paste, etc.
Circular features
The technology produces the nanoparticles with zero waste & utilizing less energy when compared to the traditional recycling method that leads to carbon gas discharge along with dangerous chemicals handling.
They also contribute towards precious metals recovery.
