Seaweed-Based Packaging is a bioplastic in the Evoware range from Rethink Plastic. The innovative material is derived from seaweed, which is a readily available renewable natural resource.
The material is biodegradable, will dissolve in warm water, is home or industrially compostable and uniquely it can also be consumed.
The seaweed-based material is printable and can be heat sealed, it has a shelf life of 2 years and is available in a range of colours.
The packaging is available in sachets for dry food products, like coffee, sugar, cereal, salt, pepper and seasonings. It is also used for food wraps on burgers, sandwiches and rice.
The material can also be used for packaging of non-food products like soaps, toothpick sachets, straw sachets and sanitary napkin packaging.
